    ANDREW ,

I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE YOUR BOOK !!!!!!! I WAS @ U. TENNESSEE WHILE WALLACE WAS PLAYING & ATTENDED SCHOOL IN NASHVILLE. MY ROOMATE ATTENDED HIGH SCHOOL WITH WALLACE. IT WAS A GREAT TIME TO BE IN THE SEC, KENTUCKY HAD A BLACK TRACK STAR BEFORE WALLACE PLAYED VARSITY BALL , AND RAY MEARS RECRUITED AUBREY NASH, SPENCER HAYWOOD AND AUSTIN CARR DURING THAT ERA.

TENNESSEE ALSO SIGNED ALBERT DAVIS TO PLAY FOOTBALL , BUT HE DID NOT QUALIFY . LESTER MCCLAIN WAS ADMITTED , AND WENT ON TO STAR IN OUR PROGRAM.

I LOOK FORWARD TO READING YOUR BOOK, AS PERRY WAS A GOOD GUY.

  • “In a magnificently reported, nuanced
but raw account of basketball and racism in the South during the 1960s, Andrew Maraniss tells the story of Perry Wallace’s struggle, loneliness, perseverance and eventual self-realization. A rare story about physical and intellectual courage that is both shocking and triumphant. ”

Bob Woodward, Washington Post associate editor and author
