Don’t Quit My Day Job: Q&A With Gorkana

September 17, 2014

One of the challenges of working on Strong Inside over the last eight years has been balancing the time spent on the book with time spent with family and at my ‘day job’ as a partner at McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations in Nashville. In this Q&A with the “media intelligence” firm Gorkana, I discuss some obstacles in writing the book and a few parallels between the themes in Strong Inside and challenges facing the PR industry in terms of diversity.

  • “In a magnificently reported, nuanced
but raw account of basketball and racism in the South during the 1960s, Andrew Maraniss tells the story of Perry Wallace’s struggle, loneliness, perseverance and eventual self-realization. A rare story about physical and intellectual courage that is both shocking and triumphant. ”

Bob Woodward, Washington Post associate editor and author
